Yahoo! Search Marketing offers search services, such as sponsored ads, local advertising, product / tourism / directories that allows different businesses to advertise their products and services on the MSN network through subscription. Yahoo! Publisher Network is an advertising tool for online publishers to place relevant ads on content sites to capitalize on them.

Yahoo launched its new advertising system on Internet sales on 5 February, 2007, called Panama. This allows advertisers to bid for search terms based on their popularity to display their ads on search results pages. The system takes bids, ad quality, click-through rates and other factors into account when determining how ads are ranked on search results pages. With Panama, Yahoo aims to provide relevant search results to users, a better overall experience and monetization growth, to gain more from the ads it shows.

On 7 April 2008, Yahoo announced Yahoo APT, which was originally called AMP from Yahoo, an online advertising management platform. The platform was designed to simplify advertising sales by unifying buyer and seller markets. The service was launched in September 2008.

In September 2011, Yahoo has formed a strategic partnership with ad selling two of its top competitors, AOL and Microsoft.
